How to make Wired Wrapped Button Rings - Great idea for estate jewelry
65Got a great tin of buttons you don't know what to do with?
Turn them into beautiful keepsake rings!
Wire wrapped button rings are perhaps some of the loveliest pieces of jewelry you will ever make. There are endless possibilities for design and you are able to add a huge variety of jewelry at minimal pricing for both resale and your own personal collection.
Tools you will need to make these rings:
20 gage non-tarnish gold or silver wire
Shank Buttons
Ring Mandrel
Bent nose pliers
Flat Nose Pliers
Side Cutters

Note: I buy DARICE 15 yard spools of 20 ga non-tarnish at my local craft store (Pat Catan’s) for under $3. This will generally make over 30 rings. I only buy silver or gold as the colored wires tend to nick when you are working with tools. Because they are not colored all the way through they will show the blemishes when you use the tools on them
Here are some closeups:
Can you really tell that they are buttons or do they look like expensive rings?
Not enough estate to go around?
If you troubled by the fact that you inherited a loved one's things and there didn't seem to be much to divide between family members, consider this:
Don't discard that button tin. Make all of the female members of the family a keepsake ring to remember that person by. It will probably mean more to them than anything else you could have given them, except the actual diamonds of course!

A great concept! I really never thought of this idea. It will be a good thing to play around with on days when I have to stay indoors. :) Voted up, useful and interesting.
